Sitting here thinking about my Grandfather who passed away in 06 with whom I was very close. I remember how some of the family came to his apartment, myself included and engaged in a snatch and grab of what he had left behind. Now dont get me wrong , Im certainly not faulting anyone and after all, it is just stuff that he would no longer be using anyway. Who better to have it than family ? I however, in retrospect while taking the very least believe I got the very best. What I have of my Grandfathers is this...His pocket knife that he carried as long as I could remember, his shaving kit and Gillette safety razor that I use everyday and an American flag in honor of his service to our country presented upon his death. In having these things I remember him everyday! Objects will never replace what he meant to me, nor his influence on my life. Still, they help to keep his memory alive for me anyway....Thats all !
