Sitting here trying to think of excuses to not remote in and work. - TopicsExpress

Sitting here trying to think of excuses to not remote in and work. So I’ll talk about one adventure this weekend. Come home from work at 5:30; walk into the apartment I normally keep a bit cool. And it is uncomfortable hot with the A/C running and lukewarm air coming from the vents. So I call the apartment office get a message and leave a voice message reporting a maintenance request. Later I decide to call and ask the answering service and ask for an emergency repair as it is more than just hot. I’m told that AC is only an emergency of over 60 degrees outside. It was 81 by my thermometer. But today I’m out with my realtor looking at houses and get a call saying they are going to look at it. Later I get a call saying it’s fixed and should start cooling. Get home a couple hours later and it is ever hotter. Called the guy who said he’d fixed it and he said it sounded like I had a slab leak. He comes over and we walk around the place. He’s feeling the floor. I said that I thought this was odd. But now it might make sense. Last night I’d turned on the faucet, letting it run for 30 sec or so expecting cool water. But it got hotter. It stayed hot for a while before cooling. And he said that the floor was hot in the kitchen and laundry room. The bedrooms and master bath are fairly cool actually. But the living room and dining room are just uncomfortable. He explained that the pipes are older. And that the hot water pipes tend to corrode faster. And that the train from the state fair running now behind the apartments is enough of a vibration to cause old pipes to break. And that my floors were not that hot. So the leak may be in one of the neighbor’s apartments. So Monday they are going to come into the four apartments in this building and locate the break by finding the hottest spots with a heat sensor designed to locate these leeks in concrete floors. And they gonna whip out the jack-hammer. Oh Joy. At least I’m not paying for it. And I’ll be at work. They have to bust up the concrete. And they will bust up a lot so they find all the leaks now. Repair the pipes, pour concrete and later re-tile the floors. And the vents being lukewarm were also because the under-floor air ducks are being bathed in hot water. The AC was a little low on Freon. But working well. So he said don’t turn the AC off or it will be miserable. One entire weekend with the AC running constantly. I may just open the windows and turn it off for a while
