Sitting here watching the tv show Intervention on Netflix feeling - TopicsExpress

Sitting here watching the tv show Intervention on Netflix feeling compelled to share my thoughts of sadness and gratitude. There is a clear correlation between chronic pain and drug abuse. It seems prescription pain medication is the new gateway drug. There isnt a day that goes by that someone isnt dying, robbing or stealing for a heroin fix. All we have to do is turn on the tv for proof. I feel sick and sad about it bc suffering addicts are now younger than ever. And when u add to this, the fact that it probably all started with a doctor writing someone a prescription, it all just prolongs the admission that there may be a problem. Now let me make myself perfectly clear, I am no addiction expert and I live in a glass house so I would never throw stones. Plus, I believe 100% that there are many people who take pain meds and dont abuse them! Pain can be very real, but it can also be very imagined. I think the problem lies in the fact that for an addict, the line is terribly blurred. This gal will continue to stay on her knees thanking God everyday for His redeeming power! Thoughts??
