Sitting here with foster boy Banjo nestled on my lap, feeling - TopicsExpress

Sitting here with foster boy Banjo nestled on my lap, feeling sorry for the adopters who had to return him. While he was pretty good with other dogs (including males) while in foster with me, he became became a resource guarder at his first new home. His new mommy was his best resource, and so he guarded her from his little French Bulldog brother. His new mommy tried and tried, but he bit his little doggy brother. At least we learned that in a small pack, hell become aggressively territorial toward other dogs. With his second adopter, I knew I shouldnt leave him there, because his new mommy expected him to potty in one particular 3 x 3 square of lawn, not pee on bushes, not walk on mulch, and take naps in the daytime instead of going on walks. His new adopter begged and pleaded, so I left him, thinking that hed be returned soon. He almost was, He surprised me by adapting to his new restrictve environment and his new mom loved him very much. But he pulled on lead, and so he was returned because of what she called an obedience issue. Im still miffed that she didnt see the pulling for what it was--a training issue, but now I also feel bad for her because Banjo is such a great little dog. He is so affectionate and loving (and soft), so cute, so playful; He has such cute mannerisms; and hes eager to learn, eager to please, house-trained, & perfectly quiet in a crate. He gets feisty when he sees another dog on the street (thats when he pulls), but training or a fenced yard would fix that. He is so easy and good at my house. Poor adopter #2 doesnt have the option of a fenced yard. She lives in one of those communities with rules. (Every house looks exactly the same.) It must have been very hard on her to return him. Im glad to have Banjo back. Hes one of my little loves, my easiest foster right now. Hes up for adoption again. No male dogs his size or smaller, because even though he plays with a male beagle his size here, he will get possessive. Hes better with female dogs; hes a little fearful of his human dad at first; and he sometimes pulls on lead. He also alarm barks, but Im fixing that and reinforcing the recall at the same time. Banjo wants a home where he can play with humans and toys or with another dog (he plays with Lucy and Benny here) and where he can run around in the back yard. In return, hell give you the sweetest kisses, the most love and heart-crushing cuteness of any dog ever. Hell let you carry him around like a baby, face toward you, paws on your shoulders; hell curl up on your lap and snuggle. Banjo is a little beagle-terrier mix, approx 20 lbs and only aprrox 2 years old, black over brown with the cutest white duck feet youll ever see (they point out at almost a 45 degree angle). Hes a happy guy, with none of the issues that rescue dogs can have. Banjo is in foster for Club Pet Adoption If youre interested in Banjo, click here for an online adoption application: fs24.formsite/JKatCPA/form2/index.html Once your application is approved, Ill bring him to you for a home visit, if youre within a reasonable distance of Clarion, PA.
