Sitting in the steamy heat of Malakal, South Sudan. Reports from UN pilots and local contacts indicate renewed fighting along our proposed route, so we have been re-jigging the flight plans slightly. Just like that plucky Irish lass Lady Heath did 85 years ago, were opting for a long, but direct dash up to Khartoum tomorrow. Fascinating place, but the lack of electricity and toilet seats in the hotel, spurring us on. With a bit of luck, well get our flight permit early and reach Khartoum by mid afternoon.
