Sitting on a plane, on my way to Pet Shop Boys show, in the air looking out my window halfway between Johannesburg and Capetown contemplating: After all these years (basically 30 years) of reading up and following PSB news I now consider myself a more mellow PSB fan. Being teased at school for listening to their music instead of rock music whilst being a straight rugby playing guy was not easy and sometimes I had to hide my music taste from fellow school mates. Well ironically Im the one whos 80s band is now stronger and bigger than ever worldwide (they released a new pumping club album). I now delve more into their musical landscapes and counter melodies and mid eight sessions of which, for me, they were always the masters of.I enjoy their music more day by day and I realized that their music has shaped me as a person. As a young afrikaans boy i always had a dictionary handy to spot check words that I am not familiar with and phrases that I wanted to learn just to sound clever. From being a young boy to a grown up man - I now know that Ill keep enjoying their old and current albums even when Im 80 years old. Its been a marvelous ride for me to have such a passion for a certain music style. Just having a moment whilst on my way to meet them again, backstage before their show tonight. Bliss....
