Sitting outside on the deck with a cup of chai tea latte and listening to the birds sing. What a beautiful morning. And what a blessing last night to have dear friends of ours from Ohio come down for a visit this weekend. They have been great friends for 20 years. I remember the call in 2006 that their son, Blake, had been killed on his 3 wheeler. He had just turned 11 years old and it happened on Halloween. I never understood. I couldnt imagine their pain. My heart ached for Donna Chamberlain Wyse and I knew Lynn would likely be dealing with things in his own quiet way. Zac and Blake were buddies and I remember how upset Zac was when hearing the news. So many memories of our families and our boys playing together in Ohio and even from the visits in Kentucky. I remember when I seen them in line at the funeral home for Zac. I looked at Donna and I felt like it was at that moment that I FINALLY seen someone who knew. Someone knew how I felt. A mother who had lost her child, unexpectedly in an accident. Donna knew. I wont ever pretend to know why our boys are in Heaven, but I know that sitting around the patio table last night laughing, crying, and talking for hours about our boys and our losses...our similarities and our differences in losing them and their ages at which we lost them...was more help and more therapy than weve had in a year. God blessed us with their friendship long ago and before we had our kids and He continues to bless us now in knowing them and sharing this journey with them. Looking forward to a day of laughs and tears and discussion again, and changing my profile picture to our sweet little guys from years back where Zac is feeding Blake. Love and miss them more than words. Hugs to our boys in Heaven!
