Sitting quietly in a non-descript house of a forest guard in Chafi (near Sattal, Uttarakhand), patiently waiting for a bird to come and sit on the perch, eyes glued to the view-finder of the camera mounted on a tripod, the chill of the air compensated by the warm hospitality of the hosts, a sense of tranquility enveloped me. The moment I took my eyes off the view-finder and looked beyond the perches, there was a sudden burst of emotions looking at the riot of colours, signalling the onset of spring season. The woods were painted in leaves and flowers of all possible hues, stunning me into speechlessness.
