Situation update: Severe Thunderstorms are current or people in the Sunshine Coast and parts of the Somerset, Scenic Rim and Moreton Bay Council Areas. This is for DAMAGING WIND, HEAVY RAINFALL and LARGE HAILSTONES The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:35 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Maleny, Conondale and the area south of the NSW border. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Montville, Palmwoods, Nambour and Mapleton by 5:05 pm and the Border Ranges, Maroochydore, Yandina and Coolum Beach by 5:35 pm. Very heavy rainfall and damaging winds are possible with the cell west of the Sunshine Coast. Very heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hail are possible with the cell on the southern border ranges A Second line of Thunderstorms in currently building on the Darling downs and may reach the coastal areas this evening, More Widespread Heavy Rainfall is likely. Brisbane has received 20.6mm while further east Brisbane Airport has had 25mm in the last hour or so, Rainfall is likely to slowly increase tonight and people need to be aware of Flooding / Flash Flooding if out and about...Do Not drive trough Flooded Roads should you come across a flooded Road please let us know so we can pass on the information.
