Six hours later (after working, errands and a nap!), here’s a little dish on the Fig Tree Café, the newest one having opened at Liberty Station in San Diego yesterday… I had the Portobello Burger, which consists of a Portobello mushroom, zucchini, eggplant, tomato, red onion and basil. I loved the low-carb bread, which was grilled just right, wasn’t dense and didn’t fall apart, as many of them do. A little cheese (it looked like two kinds) was added. The dressing used was very good, and this was one of the tastiest vegetarian sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. I also got to sample my friend’s Grilled Turkey Panini, which had turkey, bacon, avocado, tomato, cheddar and mozzarella on grilled sourdough. Garlic aioli was used, which brought it all together nicely. Both dishes came with a healthy helping (no pun intended!) of salad, and you have other side options to choose from. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the Man Candy, which is thick bacon coated with brown sugar and paprika. Be sure to try that!! :)
