Six injured journalists discharged from hospital The six injured journalists receiving medical treatment at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Osogbo following injuries sustained in an auto crash along Ilesa/Ife express road have been discharged from the hospital. The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Femi Fadiora, who disclosed this to newsmen in Osogbo, confirmed that the victims of the auto crash were discharged after they were confirmed medically fit. Prof. Fadiora said the six injured journalists were given the best treatment at the hospital where they were admitted for three days, adding that the hospital provided quality treatment for the victims. Meanwhile, the Osun State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed appreciation to those who rallied support towards ensuring that the 10 journalists injured in the motor accident got immediate medical care. The union specially appreciated Governor Rauf Aregbesola for the genuine concern shown in the plight of the injured journalists, even while on Umrah in Saudi Arabia and his Deputy, Mrs Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori, who was with them at the hospital for about 40 minutes at 2a.m on Saturday. A statement by the chairman of the union, Mr. Abiodun Olalere and Secretary, Mr. Bamigbola Gbolagunte said the state government picked up the medical bills of the journalists at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo and provided state-of-the-art ambulances for those referred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, (LASUTH), Ikeja for further treatment. The union also expressed gratitude to the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Sunday Akere his Health counterpart, Dr. Temitope Ilori, the State Police Commissioner, Dorothy Gimba and rights activist, Mr Amitolu Shittu for their supports.
