Six months after Chamangeni Zulu arrived in Zambia from his native Malawi, he wanted to get rich so badly that he was willing to risk it all. Hear him: “I came from Malawi and when I arrived in Chipata I met some business persons who told me that the best way to become rich was to sacrifice parts of my body. So I contacted a witchdoctor who said my body parts would be lost. He told me I would encounter a hyena for that to happen. On 24th March, 2014, around 04:00 hours, I went to a bush where I was instructed to be naked and a hyena came to me and started eating my toes and eventually my manhood was eaten. Although I knew I would lose some body parts, the witchdoctor did not indicate which parts would be lost.”…After the incident, Zulu crawled to a nearby road and passed out. The police picked him up from there and took him to Chipata General Hospital. After regaining consciousness, Zulu told the press, “Even if I have lost some important parts of my body, I still want to get rich.”…Acting medical superintendent of the hospital Humphrey Chanda says, “Yes, it is true that he lost his manhood and three toes after being bitten by a hyena, but his condition is stable.”...My Africa! My people are perishing because of ignorance!
