Six people have been injured following a bus crash in Stockport. At about 1.40pm on Saturday 27 July 2013, emergency services were called to Georges Road in Heaton Norris to reports a bus had crashed into a railway bridge. Officers attended to find a double decker bus with no roof, the roof had been ripped off during the collision. There were 10 passengers travelling on the bus. One of the passengers was trapped on the top deck for a short period of time before he was rescued by officers from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. Six of the passengers were injured during the collision, three woman and three men. They were all taken to hospital for treatment, one man, aged 43 has a deep cut to the crown of his head and the other passengers have received treatment for cuts and bruises. The bus driver was not injured. Georges Road is closed and will be for the next few hours, there are diversions in place. Sergeant Danny Byrne from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A bus carrying 10 passengers has crashed into a railway bridge, it is only by sheer luck that no-one was seriously injured. “If you were in the area at the time of the crash and witnessed the incident I would urge you to contact the police with any information.” Anyone with information should GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4742 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
