Six years ago today I started working at the London InterCommunity Health Centre as their first communications manager. It was my fifth job since graduating ten years earlier and I was still looking for a place to call home. I was compelled by the Health Centres mission, inspired by the vision of the Executive Director, passionate about improving the health of Londons most marginalized community members and eager to put my skills to use. Its been the hardest job Ive ever had. And the most gut wrenching. And the most satisfying. My colleagues are a gift to this community - so smart and with such an amazing capacity for empathy. This organization has changed the core of who I am and I learn and grow every day. Thanks universe. (lihc.on.ca)
