Sixteen days ago a long-term BYC foster home, Joyce, found a box on her doorstep with a note attached that said, Her name is Misty, Shes a sweetheart. She has a cute heart on her paw....we think you can give her a better home than we could ever have. Please take care....shes a year old and loves to be petted. When Joyce looked more closely, her heart dropped when she realized that the lid of the box was open and it was empty. A cry went out to the Erie animal-loving community and a search began for this abandoned cat but she was not found. Posts were made on Erie Animal Network and the cat has been the central thought of many people for more than two weeks. Yesterday five young men heard weak cat cries and the group, led by Brenden Erb, followed them and found the cat near the area she was abandoned. She was very thin and weak so Brenden took her home because his mother fosters for Orphan Angels Cat Sanctuary and Adoption Center and he knew she would know what to do. The cat was posted on Erie Animal Network as found and the pieces began to fall into place as it was realized that this was the missing cat that a number of people had been looking for for the past 16 days! Joyce, the BYC foster home who had originally found the empty box on her doorstep, picked up the cat as soon as she realized it had been found and the cat is now safe, warm and has a full belly in Joyces home. BYC would like to thank Brenden Erb, Dominic Costello, Anthony Zeppieri, Martin Galindo, and Nick Parks for their part in her rescue. Many young men would not have bothered to investigate the source of the cat cries and would not have taken responsibility for the cat. These men deserve a big pat on the back. THANK YOU!
