Sixteen high school seniors at East Richland High School have been named Illinois State Scholars. The names of those students are listed below. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission identifies state scholars based on a formula that includes ACT score, grade point average, and class rank. The students named represent the top 10% of high school seniors in the state of Illinois. East Richland High School principal Chris Simpson stated, “We are very proud of these 16 students. They are very talented academically, but they are also talented in many other ways. Most importantly, they are terrific young people with a bright future. It is my sincere pleasure to congratulate them on this recognition.” The Illinois State Scholars will be recognized before the ERHS boys’ home basketball game on Friday, December 12th. In addition to this, the Regional Office of Education will recognize all Illinois State Scholars within the 5-county region with a banquet this spring.
