Sixteen years ago today, my Dad passed away from an aneurysm at the age of 74. I cannot express how thankful I am the Lord picked him to be my dad. Over the last few months, many of you have had to live through the passing of someone very close to you...and for several of you, it has been your dad. Having been raised in a non-Christian home, many things changed for me when I became a Christian at the age of 18. Besides the Lord taking the use of profanity from me, I started to become concerned with the spiritual condition (and destiny) of my family members, particularly my dads. As many of you know, sharing the gospel with your family members is among the hardest things there is to do for a variety of reasons, mostly because they know you. After a few months, I worked up the courage to tell my dad what Jesus had done in my life. My dads response, Im happy you found something that works for you. I had opportunity to share the gospel with my dad three other times before he passed away, plus my girls were also able to witness to him. Although, I want to believe my dad is in Heaven, to my knowledge he never professed faith in Jesus, so I really dont know for certain. I share this because, unlike many of you who have the certainty that you will be reunited with your dad again in Heaven, I dont. The other two reasons I share this are: 1) If you have loved ones who dont know Jesus, ask the Lord for courage and wisdom to share with them, and 2) I dont want anyone to be under the false illusion that everyone who dies automatically goes to Heaven because its just not so. When your time on earth is over, you will spend eternity in Heaven with God or in Hell, apart from Him. My friends, the way has been made and the price has been paid for you, but you have to choose. You have to come to the realization that you need a Savior, that you have earned Hell because of your sins, but that because of Gods great love for you, He sent His Son Jesus to take your punishment on Himself. However, only you can choose to place your faith in Jesus. Do it now, please! Dont wait! I beg you!
