Skateboarding is not easy. It is frustrating and the learning - TopicsExpress

Skateboarding is not easy. It is frustrating and the learning process often times can be brutal and not very fun. More and more lately I have been seeing similarities in how I learn things skating and how I learn in school and just about everything else. In skating, just like in school, there are so many different things you can learn and certain things come easier to certain people. Most skaters learn by trial and error, not often is it that a trick just comes to us naturally, however this trail and error process differs greatly among all of us. For example it took me six years of trying to finally land a tre flip whereas it took a friend of mine just under a year. However there are also some tricks that I learned faster than him. In skateboarding this is normal, and if you learn the trick the amount of time it took you to learn it no longer has importance. I wish things worked like this in school. I have struggled in math and science a lot over the years. I often times would put twice as much work into learning the material than anyone else in the class yet I still was having a lot of trouble to even get a passing grade. I know for a fact that if I had a longer period of time to study and material and learn it in a way that worked better for me that I could do well. This has always worked for me in skating because there is no time limit or deadline. I havent yet not been able to land a trick, at least once, that I put my all into (that I knew i was capable of to start with). I dont know exactly what I am trying to accomplish by saying this but I believe that school would be a much better place for me and all the other people who learn like me if it was presented in different ways. Anyways here is a video from earlier today. Tried this trick for an hour and a half and tried it over 100 times but I finally got it. Trial and error is key but every error requires a small change. https://youtube/watch?v=APNPH4hKmV0&feature=youtu.be
