Skips 4WDing tips As QLD is blessed with the worlds biggest sand islands that also happen to be great for fishing I thought Id share a few beach 4WDing accessory tips which make it so much easier, and give you peace of mind. 1st The Straun tyre deflators make it a breeze to set your tyres to a recommended 18psi for beach driving. You simply twist them onto your air valves and they stop at your preset pressure. Makes deflation easier and quicker. 2. A quality air compressor. Go for something powerful enough that will not take you forever to reinflate your tyres and make it a chore. Attach a tyre gauge too and you can quickly check the air pressure as you inflate! 3. Replace your tow ball tongue with a D shackle tongue if not towing boat. NEVER...repeat NEVER...attach a snatch strap to your tow ball. People have been killed from the ball becoming a projectile. 4. Strong tow points. Check your manufacturers hook point for towing capacity...many are normally light on. Replace with two tow points and use a 3 way connection strap to even out the weight to avoid damage to your underbody and for added strength. 5. Use quality and not old snatch straps. Use a 3 way connection (two ends on the hooks and the snatch strap connects to the middle) to two tow points under the vehicle as above if possible. 6. Use a dampener (not shown) on your snatch strap to absorb most of the energy in the event of any breakage/snap. If you dont have one, use a jumper or rain jacket. Cheers and safe 4wding and fishing.
