Skype is going to offer a simultaneous translation service for users maintaining conversations in English and Spanish. The program, developed by Microsoft, which owns Skype, translates the audio of a conversation in real time so that each of the two people will hear the voice of a robot speaking in in their own language. Skype Translator also provides a transcript of the conversation in both languages. At this time, Microsoft will offer translations only in English and Spanish but plans to offer the service in other languages. The new simultaneous-translation system will be available on Skype versions for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. To promote the service, Microsoft used a video conversation of two girls, one in a school in Mexico City and the other in a school in Tacoma, Washington.
