Slavery ended in 1865 (supposedly), the Civil Rights Act ended the Jim Crow Laws in 1964 and the Voters Rights Act of 1965 was supposed to make blacks equal under the law. So after 149 years since slavery ended, 50 years since the Civil Rights Act and 49 years after the Voters Rights Act were signed; why do blacks still not have equal rights under the law? Why are our young black men and women getting murdered in the streets and those that killed them can simply say, I was in fear for my life! They feared an unarmed black person and they can get away with murder! My heart is heavy, because I want my brothers and sisters, my sons and daughters, my mothers and fathers to be treated as equal under the same laws that protect others in this state and country! I WANT #EQUALITY AND #JUSTICE!
