Umangan, Aliaga, NE but Galang fired shots at police that prompted the latter to fire back. Nieves said Galang was already armed with a handgun and live hand grenade even before the arresting police could convey its purpose. He said the suspect was instantly killed due to continuous shots fired against him by the arresting team. Citing intelligence reports, Nieves also said that the group was reportedly planning to assassinate some incumbent politicians and businessmen in Cabanatuan City, including a public official of Maria Aurora in Aurora province. Following the shootout, police recovered from the crime scene the following: a Taurus Caliber .9mm intel arms with serial number 1051042 with one magazine and 12 live ammunition; one M61 fragmentation hand grenade; 4 pieces of spent cartridge case for cal.9mm; six pieces of cartridge case for Cal.45; one deformed fired bullets; and, a metal fragment.
