Sleaford Mods were good last night, but sheesh, we endured some crap before we got there as the support acts steadily declined from mildly amusing to intolerable. In order: Mark Wynn: Ive seen him before, and hes kinda fun in small doses, prancing about and spouting garbage over a backing track. Hes OK. Sudden Infant: Pretentious Krautrock, surmounted with drivelous lyrics intoned in a portentous manner. Very tiresome, but at least it was tight. Consumer Electronics: Probably the worst act I have ever had the misfortune to be shut in a room with in my entire life. Awful, atonal crap puked out from some sort of synthesiser while first a very shrill woman, then a somewhat porky bloke shrieked total bilge. And it went on and on and on and... Just atrocious. At first we rolled our eyes and sighed. Then we stepped away. Eventually we were moved to shout abuse, loudly, and at length. Im pretty sure that between us, we know all the swear words, but we ran out. Whoever booked them should be flogged over a gun carriage wheel. At least Sleaford Mods were on form, but looking at the balance sheet for the evening, I think we only broke even. Id like to dedicate the following (particularly the chorus) to the shouty dickhead in Consumer Electronics:
