Sleeting rain and a dusting snow from Tuesday night and into the next morning were blamed for numerous traffic accidents in the Richmond area Wednesday. Madison County EMS responded to 11 calls between 7:55 and 9:51 a.m. “It got a little crazy there for a little while,” said Carlos Coyle, EMS director. “The accidents were all over the county. There was one on Lexington Road, a couple on I-75 at Exit 90, and a few more on Red House Road, the bypass and Lancaster Road.” Several people were transported to Baptist Health Richmond, but none of the injuries appeared to be serious. The southern end of the county did not appear to be affected by the icy conditions, Coyle said. At least none of the calls came from that area. “We had a busy morning,” he said. “I hope that everyone remained safe during their morning commute.”
