Slices of life 8/813 Protecting your temple 4 1Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? Everywhere we go there are signs meant to instruct us, neglecting those signs which are meant to guide us or warn us of danger may have serious consequences. Do you remember the last time you ignored an instruction? what were the consequences. Do you remember the time you followed an instruction? What were the rewards?. Someone defines SIn as Simple Instruction Neglected. The instruction is not a complex one, it is simple, but we can make it complex when we begin to fiddle with it rather than obey it. The bible puts it this way: 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. The command to Adam and Eve was very simple. Don’t eat of the fruit of that tree. When Satan began his analysis, he made it complex and Eve lost sight of the original instruction. God and sin cannot cohabit, something must give way. A lifestyle of sin will turn a temple into a synangougus of satan, God s not impressed by the physical size of a temple, he is interested in the state of the heart of the worshippers, similarly, God is not impressed by the work we do for him, he is impressed by our walk with him. Keeping our temple clean is a daily duty as holiness and godliness goes hand in hand. Just like a physical temple, when people visit they come with residues of where there are from, some things may cleave to their shoes, they may also drop some things in the temple. Candy wrappers etc. The temple attendants ensure that they keep the temple clean or else the dirt brought by others will become a part of the temple. The world will bring its offerings, from the tv soaps to people who will come to drop a sin, gossip, bittterness, immorality, backbiting, etc you must set up your spiritual radar and be sensitive and clear their offerings into the trash can. For good measure the bible enjoins us to meditate on the scriptures day and night. Joshua 1:This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. In the morning, before we go out to set our focus straight and in the night to weed out all the junk that may have been deposited into our thoughts and system as we go through life. Meditating on the word is like chewing on food rather than just swallowing. This is when we get the full benefit of he word.
