Slide Rock water slide to reopen Saturday Oak Creek at Slide Rock State Park will reopen for sliding and swimming this Saturday. The park has remained open since the Slide fire in Oak Creek Canyon in late May. But access to the creek and its popular slickrock slides has been closed due to concerns over possible contamination and flooding from runoff in the burn area. But the state parks department says a limited area of the creek will reopen in the park at 8 a.m. Saturday. The U.S. Forest Service continues to bar public access to the creek everywhere else in the canyon above Midgley Bridge. The admission fee per vehicle will remain discounted at $10, down from $20 before the fire.
