Slik Otomotiv Car Care Tips-LIBAG (not mineral or chemical stains): Hello bosses :) Its been a while since I last posted about this topic (apologies) and now, after much testing with our very own car,we came up about certain findings about the topic. For the past months, some of our bosses ask me (on-line and off-line) how can LIBAG be avoided specially on white colored vehicles. Since most of you know, all of our cars are white so had an experiment with each of them with respect to each of your complaint. All cases are D.I.Y so... The 3 of it are the following : 1.) Wet towel wash-your typical manong driver wash every morning. 2.) Rinsing the whole car with a garden hose, then dry. 3.) Thining of the clear coat. In which a case for older cars. The past shiny paint surface looses its shine or luster. Before anything let us understand first the root cause of Libag... A.) Dust - let us accept the fact, that manila is one of the most polluted cities in the whole world. And we manileños simply never run out of these flying-nearly invisible buggers around. B.) Tree Sap - These usually happens when you park your car under a tree specially if done over night. You will feel the paint surface tacky or sticky, and if combined with A... BOOM! C.) Exhaust or Pollution Dust (Petrol) - for me, is the number 1 cause of libag, specially for cars that are daily driven. Most cases that i heard from you bosses is that you all work in the office where you have to park your car in a not so good ventilated/closed place like the basement or building. This specifically is the most direct out of the 2,because it is naturally sticky once its out (no help, influence or combination like A+B). Having discussed the kinds of dust and its origin, lets go washing faults of the 2 things I mentioned above : 1.) Manong Driver Wash - Dont get mad at manong!!! Atleast you see him working extra for his pay. But the problem with this process is its very Risky. Risky in a way that even if Manong is rinsing his towel of choice (M.F or Chamois) as he goes along, not 100% of the dirt/dust is being picked-up. Some of it still stays, and because the the dust becomes wet,it sticks... Hence, LIBAG is formed. Plus the risk of scratching the paint because there is not help or process of rinsing which make the dust just roll down. 2.) The Garden Hose. This actually is good in maintaing your white colored cars white but with conditions. Those condition are presence of Tree Saps. Because even if you hose the car down, these things dont easily break loose even if you pressure wash it. You always need to go to the traditional process of hosing-shampooing,rinsing,drying. It would get worse if you immediately wipe your car without shampooing because it, being naturally sticky, once wiped, the dust in the tree sap if mixed becomes TADAAA!!! LIBAG. As if mixing cement-water-sand together. 3.) The surface. If the clearcoat is close to gone, paint becomes bare... Meaning that the pores are open, enough to trap the dirt in it and never lets it go. LIBAG on cars is practically dirt build-up caught through time. Considering, all paint finishes/clearly coat (but still with pores as can be seen under a scope) no matter how new, its naturally smooth. So the best that we could recommend is to go any car wash (any place, near or far) if you see the exterior of the car being close to NASTY. NEVER-EVER let it stay for more than 24 hours as it may embed on your cars paint and convert itself into gunk. But if your always in a hurry and a D.I.Y kind of a person, or let Manong Driber do it, you can buy hose attachments on mall hardware stores or shop t.v programs in which you can attach an independent solution container as your water shoots water at the same time. In this process at least, you are safe to say that you have applied a release solution for the dirt such as a pure shampoo, citrus degreaser,or mix (1:1) as you hose down the car. Then rinsing the car again with plain water, then wipe. But still,we recommend you to lightly scrub your car while the solution is placed. A little love and elbow grease wouldnt hurt :) So this is our take on the matter. Happy wednesday bosses :) and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! Xoxo-Slik
