(Slodging Along together) A Dream By alan dolit The following is based on several dreams I’ve had recently. I’m in a jungle swamp with a group of people .I don’t see any way out as except for the swamp we are in, the sides of the hills are slippery slopes. We’ve been slodging along for a long long time fighting off alligators, snakes and creepy crawly things that make life unbearable. I have no idea why we are here. I ask aloud “Why are doing this. What’s the point?” A person next to me responds “Well this is the way we’ve always done it. This is God’s Will that we endure until the end and when we die we get rewarded.” “Pie in the sky when you die” I think. I have reached the end of my endurance for pain and I think there must be a better way. “Won’t someone please help me?”, I pray. Just then I notice there is a thick vine and attached to the vine is a small coach compartment with seats. There are two signs. One on the vine itself which says: “Da Vine intervention” with a happy face underneath. The other a sign on the coach itself which says: “Heavenly Hoist. Get lifted up above the Battleground.” I enter it and pull on the vine. I am instantly raised out of the murky swamp where I have a clear view of my friends still fighting against all the swamp creatures. This level is far more hospitable, but I have to avoid getting too close to the edge as it is a very slippery slope and one false move will send me back down there. Even though this level is so fantastic, I feel guilty about having left my companions. I think maybe there is a way I can reach them, so I get back into the coach and once again return to the swamp level. I try to tell my former companions that there is a better way, but they get upset with me and avoid me. Nothing I say to them can convince them of the truth they do not want to hear. They’re not amenable to change. I climb back into the coach. Jesus is sitting there. I tell him of my plight. He says. “Tell me about it Alan. I’ve been trying for two thousand years without much luck”
