Slow and Steady Wins the Race… Along with the Right Candidate. Now that the local elections are over, it is time to focus on next November. The 2014 election presents us with a unique opportunity to link Governor Malloy and Jim Himes -- indeed, there are no other “top of the ticket” races in 2014 -- and to expose how their big government policies have pushed Connecticut to the bottom of every economic metric. With the right candidates, we can take both seats! Not surprisingly, some in our party seem unwilling to consider a new direction, opting instead for a premature, easy and well-worn path that has lost us every major election for the last 5 years. Change is hard, but without it, we will lose again. The majority of Republicans, of course, have expressed a desire to explore new options, and to keep an open mind as the process plays out. The stakes are too high to do otherwise. (To that point, see Press Release from House Minority Leader Larry Cafero here.) I thank the scores of Republican officials, leaders and donors who have already thrown their support my way, and I look forward to earning your support in the coming months. In the meantime, you can learn about and support my campaign by visiting shabanforcongress. Regards,
