Slowdown. One of the highlights of my career by far has been hearing Tab Benoit play pedal steel on one of my songs. I was literally moved to tears in the studio watching Tab figure out the changes for a few minutes to Slow Down. Sitting there thinking to myself: Wow, Ive picked out dozens of Tabs songs while in my room on my guitar, and now here I am in his studio and hes laying down some of the most beautiful pedal steel licks Ive ever heard. It was a moment I relive everytime I hear this song. Its amazing how a song starts out as one thing and ends up another. You make memories through the creative process that the song itself often takes on a whole new life. I remember writing this song in my van late night after a show. I didnt feel like going to bed quite yet and life seemed just a little out of control. It was time to write a song... I was really diggin on Ray Charles song 3/4 Time when I realized in that moment how blessed I am to be grounded through my loved ones, especially my wife. So I took that idea (Key of D and in 3/4 time) then went from there... I tend to use music as a mantra and as a reminder of things that are important to me or should be, anyway.... I guess I also try to communicate to people I love through song. Plus, I hope they keep putting up with and forgiving me for my crazy lifestyle. So, out came these words: Slow down your moving too fast... Slow down youre moving too fast. There aint nothing worth losing yourself & Just flying on by the way... So dont lose your head and dont ever forget where youre going at the end of the day... Cause a man needs something worth living for. Someone to help him along his way. A place to run, a place to call home... yes, at The end of the day... Thanks babe! Thanks Tab Benoit! Thank You - Kris Lager
