Small Just a small town girl, living in a large world, she took the midnight train going anywhere, Im just a small town boy taking my boots off for the night, halfway across the world, and I still whispered her name every night, I will never forgot the smell of her sweet perfume, in a war torn world so far away, I looked up to heaven and prayed for peace, as I said her name, the sound of her voice always rang, cold, dark, dirty, I was young and so willing to fight, well she took off on that midnight train, she said it wouldnt work, and I watched as she disappeared from the light, saw her wave goodbye when that train flew right past, I felt like Id lost something too good to be true, maybe it wasnt our time, we both went on our way, I went to a desert land some call Iraq, I called it home, then off again to Afghanistan where the devil always roams, so many brothers lost, so much anger swelled, I lost part of my soul in that place, just another small town boy with dirt on his face, I dont know where youd went, but I thought about it every night, reaching out for you in the middle of the night, constantly whispering your name, I knew my life would never be the same, well back to you a small town girl, you went through your own hell, some mean and rough times, where the devil followed your every move, he got you good when you were about to tell the world goodbye, you opened your closet and thats when the devil smiled, he knew hed take your life, but what he didnt count on was a small folded up note, in a box tucked away, the devil started sweating when you opened it with care and smiled, he wasnt counting on a freckle faced small town boy so far away, he wasnt counting on a guardian angel that day, well your just a small town girl taking a midnight train, and Im a small town boy so far away. *WidowMaker* COPYRIGHT 2013-2014, ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
