Small has always been more intense than most kids we know. Smart, clever, funny, and extremely exacting! On Monday we begin the long, slow process of a referral to the ASD team in our city. We hope it will help other people understand Small better, and him to understand himself as he grows up, but we have already made our peace with what may come. We are incredibly lucky that through our local home education community we have met several families with children on the spectrum, and those families have supported us and reassured us that we are making the right decision. Life will carry on as normally as it ever does, this is just a side road running alongside our main journey.
