Small sermon for those who want to listen... A couple days ago I heard a great analogy. I meet with a group of men every once in a while to discuss the Bible and at the end this particular meeting, where we discussed the book of Romans, our group leader read an interesting summary of what weve been studying. (I believe the analogy came from a book written by David Jeremiah if you find it relevant) It basically said that were like street cats digging through trash cans and then one day a great restaurant owner asks us to get out of the trash cans and dine in his cafeteria. Amazed at the lines of people reaching for fresh fruits, vegetables and meats we find ourselves in a bit of shock after a while. So much that after a while we have the nerve to ask the restaurant owner if we can eat trash again. In the book of Romans Pauls message is about justification, sanctification and glorification. To pull this together for you, picture this-- if youve fed on good, healthy food for the longest time on the owners bill and he wants you to return regularly to keep eating what hes got, why on earth would you go back to garbage. That would make no sense. But thats often the case of our righteous ways versus our sinful ways. I challenge you to study this book of the Bible and if you want you can hit me up to visit Second Branch Baptist church one day.
