Small world! District Governor Elect Anne Egan and her husband Jeff traveled from District 9640 in eastern Australia to visit us on Monday night, and what did they see? A wallaby named Sydney, courtesy of Wildlife Defenders, a Bridges for Brain Injury educational outreach program. Lori Stahlman, education coordinator at Wildlife Defenders, carried Sydney, as well as an alligator (who seemed to have a few words to say to our Treasurer Terry O’Neil), a ring-tailed lemur and a porcupine from table to table as Wildlife Defenders, who are recovering from brain injuries, spoke in detail about each animal. The Defenders also spoke of the feelings of belonging and empowerment they got by being a part of this program that provides rehabilitation from brain injuries. As Ari said, “…But most of all, I now have hope to find myself again in this sometimes scary, unpredictable world.” Thank you Jason DeWaters, Jessica Wurtenburg, Jon Bryan, Ari Dunton and founder John Truini, for a fascinating evening.
