Smart Kids with Disabilities and Villa Maria School Present Ruthann Short, MSW, LCSW Mind Matters® Executive Function Coaching for Disorganized Kids All children need good executive function skills to meet the demands of childhood and adolescence – the ability to plan, initiate, organize, set goals, solve problems and regulate behavior. This parent-coaching workshop will give parents information and strategies to help their children ages 9 to 12 develop the skills they may lack. The program will include a discussion of middle childhood development, and will provide coaching on the development of executive function skills from a strengths-based perspective. The coaching framework will help children develop the compensatory and resiliency skills, as well as the self-regulation that are needed to negotiate the increasingly complex demands of adolescence and beyond.
