Officers also attended the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, High Street, Smethwick on Sunday 16th March 2014. They were offering advice and information on the current recruitment process. CRIME PREVENTION BLITZ - Smethwick neighbourhood officers have been continuing their two week crime prevention blitz across the area. Their aim is to speak to as many local residents as possible and deliver crime prevention messages and advice ...to help prevent you becoming a victim of crime and protect your home from burglary. We have been patrolling Hales Lane, Manor Road, Taylors Lane, Thompson Gardens and Coopers Lane amongst others speaking to residents and vulnerable members of our community to property mark their valuables and hand out personal safety alarms where needed. Over 500 doors have been knocked; around 150 residents have been spoken to and taken advantage of property marking pens, barcoding valuables, Selecta DNA and personal attack alarms. The other properties have had crime prevention literature and local team contact details posted through their doors. If you would like to be given crime prevention advice or have any concerns that the local neighbourhood team can assist with, please call the team at Smethwick police station on 101 Previous weeks activity - Crime * There have been 14 crimes recorded this week in the Smethwick Ward area. * At 01.30am hours on 13th March criminal damage was caused to a front door from being kicked at an address Queens Close. * On 14th March at 08.35am hours offenders approached an address on Hales Lane from the rear, and forced open a UPVC door which activated the alarm, offenders have conducted a search of an upstairs room, the offenders have ripped the alarm panel off the wall before making their exit. * Between 13.30 on 15th March and 11.30am hours on 16th March offenders climbed over the side entry wrought iron gate and used unknown implement to remove two panels from a wooden gate to gain entry to rear yard of a property in Dibble Road, then proceeded to cause damage to a rear wooden door around the lock area, no entry was gained * Between 17.00 hours on 15th March and 20.20 hours on 16th March offenders gained entry to a rear garden via an insecure side gate and forced the wooden door to gain entry, conducted a search of the house stealing property. • Between 22.00 hours on 15th March and 20.45 hours on 16th March offenders approached a vehicle on Vicarage Road and using a brick smashed both front and rear nearside windows. • On 16th March between 12.45 hours and 14.30 hours a vehicle had its front and rear plates stolen whilst parked on Rosefield Road. • At 17.30 hours on 16th March three males got into a taxis and asked the driver to drive them to a location, on arrival one male got out and asked him to wait, one of the other passenger leant forward and stole the drivers mobile phone then got out of the vehicle and made off towards the alleyway on Hales Crescent. * Between 22.00 hours on 16th March and 09.30am hours on 17th March offenders scratched the rear door of a vehicle parked on Sabell Road. * Between 21.00 hours on 16th March and 06.00am hours on 17th March offenders stole front roll bars/roof rack by removing the nuts and bolts on a vehicle parked on Beechfield Road. * At 22.20 hours on 16th March an offender kicked a vehicle causing damage to the rear panel and door whilst parked on Londonderry Lane. * A child was walking to school at around 08.30am hours on 18th March when they dropped their mobile phone another child who was walking behind picked up the phone and ran off with it. * A vehicle was stopped and searched by police as it was found to be on false registration plates. The search revealed plastic containers and a funnel in the vehicle for going equipped for theft from vehicles. • There were also two assaults recorded. Previous weeks activity - Anti Social Behaviour There were 4 incidents of Anti-Social Behaviour recorded last week. • An altercation broke out between youths on their way home from school. * Reports of loud music coming from an address on Bartlett Road. * Group of youths hanging outside an address on Dibble Road. * On Unketts Road a neighbour is being abusive.
