Sneak Peek in a Park: Kenai Fjords National Park - Exit Glacier, - TopicsExpress

Sneak Peek in a Park: Kenai Fjords National Park - Exit Glacier, past and present! This week’s post is also a sneak peek from the past - two images which span over 30 years in the same Alaskan park, and which span a career in the National Park Service. The first image was taken in 1981, shortly after the park was created. The second image, taken just a year ago in 2013, shows how much Exit Glacier has changed in the past 30+ years. It’s an interesting reminder that change happens, even in places set aside for future generations to appreciate. These images are particularly important for me, as it’s my career that they span. And since this is my last post as a member of the Alaska National Parks social media team (I’m retiring this week), it seems an appropriate way to bid you all goodbye. For the past couple years, it’s been my privilege to share images and stories about Alaska’s parks with you each week. You’ve taught me that no matter where you call home, our parks and their stories have a place in your hearts. I’d like to thank you for that support and interest, and for letting us into your lives through this medium. As one grateful ranger, I’m looking forward to joining your ranks - and continuing to share your love of Alaska’s special places! Ill see you all - out there... ~ John Morris (jmm)
