Snow Hi 44° | Low 26° **LIGHT SNOW POSSIBLE*** Residents of the northern two-thirds of the area (all except for the far southern/southeastern part of the TX Panhandle) may wake up Monday morning to light snow falling from the sky. There will be a chance for some accumulation, but mainly on grassy areas and on rooftops. The roads will be too warm to accumulate any snow since it was near 90° on Saturday ... BUT if we happen to get a round of sleet before it transitions into snow, we could be dealing with some slick spots on the morning commute. As it stands right now, the latest computer model forecast data indicates about 2 of snow for the OK Panhandle and far northern parts of the TX Panhandle! For the rest of us, a dusting to 1 will be possible, but the higher totals will definitely be north/northwest... NO April Fools Joke here! Regardless, Monday will be a MUCH colder day with highs only rising into the 40s. On top of that, winds will be howling too with northerly winds at 20-30 mph and some higher gusts upward of 40-50 mph possible. We can expect wind chill values in the teens and 20s Monday morning and the 20s and 30s Monday afternoon. The sky will be mostly cloudy to cloudy throughout the day with clearing skies by late Monday afternoon. The Panhandle is in for a wild ride over the next 24 hours as winter makes a brief return to the region tonight and Monday. The cold front pushed through the region late Sunday morning through the early afternoon and brought strong northeasterly winds of 20-35mph with it. Clouds on the increase this evening as moisture increases and temperatures begin to fall. The extreme N Texas Panhandle and the Oklahoma Panhandle can expect the heaviest snow accumulations, between 1 and 4 inches. The remainder of the area (north of I-40) could see a dusting to an inch. The snow should end late Monday morning with clouds clearing out late Monday night. Warmer weather Tue-Wed before the next cold front arrives, bringing another chance for rain to the region.
