Snow Levels in Layman’s Terms: Sheriffs Note: The Sheriff of each county calls all snow levels. I have plenty of input from the county engineer, my on duty supervisors, OSP and ODOT. You are welcome to offer your opinion as to which level I should call on Facebook, not that I needed to tell you that. LOL PK and ps; Deb has no influence as to which level I call. Nice try! Wintry conditions are classified as one of the following three (3) levels: LEVEL 1: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads are also icy, drive carefully. THIS MEANS: THIS IS A WARNING THAT IT IS OK TO DRIVE, BUT USE COMMON SENSE. THE ROADWAYS MAY SEEM OK BUT ICE, SNOW OR BLACK ICE IS PRESENT. LEVEL 2: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roadways. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. THIS MEANS: IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DRIVE, DON’T. ONLY EXPERIENCED DRIVERS SHOULD BE DRIVING. THE ROADWAYS ARE VERY BAD AND THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY THAT YOU COULD BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. LEVEL 3: All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roadways may subject themselves to arrest. THIS MEANS. IF YOU SO CHOOSE TO DRIVE AND YOU ARE IN AN ACCIDENT, CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, OR HINDER EMERGENCY SERVICES, YOU WILL BE CITED AND YOUR VEHICLE IMPOUNDED. THE ROADWAYS WOULD BE TREACHEROUS.
