Snow Plow Update: Slick/Icy Conditions & Blowing Snow We have had the plow trucks out this morning and afternoon to get the snow and ice off the road. We have laid down a lot of salt. We will have trucks hitting the main routes for another couple hours tonight to deal with blowing snow accumulating on the main routes. Conditions will be very slick and icy because of the extreme low temperatures. Road salt becomes somewhat less effective at 30 F, much less effective below 20 F, and provides very little benefit under 10 F. The overnight low today is 7 F and 1 F tomorrow. We will hit the roads again with salt tomorrow to get what snow and ice remains, but please drive carefully and slowly, especially when the sun is down. If you see any specific problem areas, please report them to our Public Works Dept. at (801) 782-78111 during business hours or post them here and I will pass them along.
