Snow Squall Ended for Some Areas Snow squall watch Still Effect For Grey - Bruce Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake Haliburton western Algonquin Park - lake of Two Rivers Burks Falls - Bayfield Inlet. Snow squall watch ended for: port Carling - port Severn bracebridge - gravenhurst. An Arctic cold front has crossed southern Ontario. In its wake, cold air and strong westerly winds over the open waters of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay are resulting in the development of snow squalls which will persist through Thursday. The heaviest flurries are affecting areas east of Georgian Bay early this evening. As a result, snow squall warnings are in effect for those areas. As the lake effect bands shift and develop, areas that are currently under the snow squall watch may be changed to snow squall warnings. The heaviest squalls may produce snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm per 12 hours along with reduced visibilities. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably, changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Public safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. Snow squall watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
