Snow Warning Central & Northern Southland, as well as some - TopicsExpress

Snow Warning Central & Northern Southland, as well as some elevated areas, appear to have been most affected by snow. Drivers are urged to take caution and drive to the conditions. Council’s primary focus will be on ensuring the main roads are clear of snow and then secondary roads if required. General Warning Motorists are urged to be aware of surface flooding following recent snow and heavy rain, particularly in isolated low lying areas. Due to the amount of saturation, water may be taking longer than normal to dissipate. People should also be cautious - If temperatures drop overnight there is a risk of black ice on the roads. Monitoring of roads throughout the district is continuing. State Highways are maintained by NZTA. To find out more about highway conditions in the Southland District visit NZTA
