Snow or No Snow for Thanksgiving? The verdict is still out. Two forecast models used by NWS forecasters are presently two different outlooks for snow along the Colorado Front range on Thanksgiving Day. This 4-panel sequence gives 6-hour snow accumulations (period ending at the posted times) offered by the GFS (American) model and the ECMWF (European) model. The ECMWF indicates an elongated area of light to moderate snow accumulation along the Colorado/Wyoming border Wednesday night. This model shifts this band of snow accumulation south over Colorado on Thanksgiving Day. Whereas at this time, the GFS (American) model does not indicate any snow accumulation over Colorado during this 24 hour period. Still several days off, count on several run-to-run fluctuations in the snow forecast offered by these models. #cowx
