So - this is a little outside the realm of food and poverty, but not so much it doesnt seem relevant. Not even sure who reads here? ! We get a few likes now and then! But, UNICEF brings food and health care and services in ways that can help NOW with children and families in SEVERE need of all three... So its not the first time Ive shared something like this. But, its the first time that lives are critically endangered and the numbers spreading nearly like wildfire. 3700 orphans. 7400 expected by mid October. Did you know, WE CAN STOP THIS? How? Donating money. I just donated $10, only because my budget is pretty tight right now. When is it not for most all of us? I am writing to a handful of my friends and asking, please consider donating $10 right now, or a tad bit more, if you feel compelled, to literally save a childs life. Or their uncle, mother, grandmother, sister, brother. HERES WHERE YOU CAN DO IT! https://crowdrise/ebolaorphansunicef/fundraiser/ Please consider sharing this fundraiser with 7 friends you think might join in. And 1-3 strangers / acquaintances. UNICEF has requested $200 million to send health aide and more. Theyve received 25% in a few weeks. LETS OVERWHELM THEM WITH OUR DONATIONS. Lets give them more than they asked for. Lets have THIS movement spread like wildfire - FASTER than Ebola can travel. Hey, we literally are saving our own lives and families lives too. Global world, global problem. We sorta ignored it for a little while, but now that its on US soil, were finally waking up. Lots of talk about prohibiting travel, and other expensive safeguards for here. Ya know what? The best safeguard for the US is ALSO CONTAINING THE DISEASE where it started. This could easily explode into a worldwide crisis, within, one month even. Thank you for your help, Thank God its Friday, and Thank God we are given this gift called Life. With Many Hugs and Much Hope, Leigh ==== BENEFITING: U.S. Fund for UNICEF You are the Organizer of this Fundraiser THE STORY: UNICEF has requested $200 million to help the3,700 EBOLA orphans, whose families cant safely hold and care for them, & has only received 25% of their goal. - - LETS HELP THEM REACH THE REST OF THEIR GOAL! - - These beautiful children. THANK YOU - - A mom who would want someone to do the same for my children. The children of the world? They are all our children. - - - - - - SOME FACTS: 9/30/14: UNICEF has appealed for $200 million for emergency assistance to families affected by the outbreak. To date, the UN agency said that it has only met 25 percent of its goal... It has taken the lives of more than 3,000 people — devastating families and resulting in an estimated 3,700 children in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone being without one or both parents, the United Nation’s Children’s Fund said. That figure is likely to double by mid-October, the agency warned. Those orphaned face the additional trauma of rejection by surviving relatives, some of whom are frightened of contracting the infectious disease. Ebola is turning a basic human reaction like comforting a sick child into a potential death sentence, said Manuel Fontaine, UNICEF Regional Director for West and Central Africa. “These children urgently need special attention and support; yet many of them feel unwanted and even abandoned. *
