So 4 people whom I wanted to tag have already tagged me, and two whom Ive wanted to tag just completed the exercise. I suppose cant be lazy. Books are my favorite people of all time, since as long as I can remember. Now I do not know the general norm of the meme, is it a myfavoritebooks or is it booksthathavechangedmylife Id rather go for: Books that have stayed within me, providing some sort constant handle through the Roller Coaster, that is my life. 1. The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - My favorite book of all time, I think it helps you achieve some sort of sense of proportion, and humility. Insanely funny and imaginative. The characters, the pithy 2. The Motorcycle Diaries - Read it during the time I wanted to radically change the world, a very covert account of how a medical student becomes the man himself. 3. Maus - By Art Spiegelmann. A harrowing account of WW-II, told by a pestilent jewish father to his patient son. Though it is so depressing, the slice-of-life humor left me moist eyed. 4. The iCon - A more objective, though incomplete account of Steve Jobs and apple. Has a lot of lessons for Corporate Branding. 5. P.G. Wodehouse - Anything by him! His works completely lifts you up from wherever you are. Also, a study in the beauty of language itself. 6. Sidin Vadukuts Dork Trilogy. But more importantly his blog: whatay. The utter joy of reading that, made me realise, someday Id like to make people loff like that. 7. Norwegian Wood - Haruki Murakamis non-fantasy masterpiece. A fantastic tale of heartbreak and loss. It mends a lot of things for you, a lot of wounds, youd forgotten existed. 8. Journalism by Joe Sacco: What he does is he takes Narrative, grass-root Journalism and Graphic Novels and creates something of his own! And that is book after book, subject after subject. Tragedy after tragedy. 9. American Gods by Neil Gaiman: Beautiful, dark, moving, funny and leaves you like a scar from the battle. 10. 1984 by George Orwell - Discovered it on a top-shelf of a now, forgotten, forbidden place. Have you read it? I asked. No. Not yet, came the reply. Happily, i took it and was completely immersed into it, no wonder it has made on a lot of lists! =========================================================== Of Course I have to cheat and add Two (3) more, but actually I mean four, which is how I pronounce 7. 11. Manorama Yearbook 2006: Practically changed the course of my life. Nothing has been same or sane ever since. 12. A book of translated Chinese Short Stories: There is one particular story about two brothers, which has immensely moved me and I keep quoting that, a lot. 13. A complete-must for sophomore Media Students: Omkar Sanes: Coming Soon - The End. 2. Welcome to Advertising. Now, Get Lost. Terribly dark and funny. 14. The Godfather (novel) & Niccolò Machiavellis The prince are definitely the same books. Prince is slightly more laconic. But both talk about the same things in terms of ethics and survival. 15. Devratt Pattnaiks - Jaya: Incredibly Metal, Mahabharat is. And the author has made it so much accessible with all the beautiful snippets. 16. Superman: Red Son - Takes the Superman Mythos and turns it around 17. Brian Azzarellos Joker: The most beautiful and poetic rendition of them all. ========================================================== Thank you for bringing me into this game: Sahradayi, Shrey, Siddharth, Parasharan Chari (PC Sir), Arya. I just got lazy was gonna nominate yougaiz. And now for the list of people whos list Im looking forward to: Punit Sir - Please do this. I am out of books to read. Alokbhai - Please find some time. Jayraj, Pratik , Mayank & Phani Ram : Please make your list so I can raid Flipkart. Krupa - Please Oblige, so I can edit my excel sheet. Pooja - Same goes for you. ======================================================== What?! There have to be honorable mentions: 1. Prisoner of Azakaban. 2. V for Vendetta. 3. Tipping Point. 4. Breakout Nations. 5. Sleepwalkers. This never ends..... Such an evil ordeal this is! Damn you all!
