So. About The Thesis. Today and yesterday I spent the majority of my day watching, editing and uploading the footage from the showcase. If you ask any director/event thrower for a dance thing, theyll all tell you that its so hard to enjoy whats happening in the moment because youre trying so hard to make sure everything remains good. I remember while I was in the car with D2D after and I posed the question of which 3 performances were their top picks and it couldnt be done. Not even a top 5. Every single performance that touched that stage. From Reality DC kicking off the show amazingly to D2D closing there was not one performance that disappointed. That set up battle between Sam and X vs. Bea and Danzel was something that I had never seen before in my life. The level of creativity in that battle was astronomical. To the point where I havent stopped watching it. All 15 min of it. And the best part about it was that it was all love. Just dancing for the pure joy of dancing and to show the crowd a good time. I hope that ish goes viral. When I post it, watch it and tell me if youve seen crazier ish before. The number one thing that fills my heart with joy isnt the money that I made, it isnt the great publicity Im getting for it, it isnt the number of dancers I had at both days events.... Its the amount of INSPIRATION that conspired from all of this. Thats what makes me so damn happy this happened. For everyone to see new dance with their own eyes and admit that there was SOME kind of change provoked in them. Thats what its about. The ability for The Guardians to see eXist, a older group of all female dancers just like them. The ability for a community of Saint Petersburg dancers to experience and be a part of something that doesnt frequently go through their area. The ability for a community to see and dance with dancers from another community who arent famous our have millions of hits on YouTube but still be moved by their ability and passion for dance. The ability to show something that youre proud of and have people give you honest feedback about. The ability to leave and look back at an event with so much joy and eager to get more from dance than you thought was possible. Im not gonna sugar coat it in the slightest. If you did not come to at least one part of The Thesis you missed out completely. Ask anyone who went to the showcase, workshop or battle. I couldnt have done this without the support of my friends family and community. Thank you. I gained inspiration to have battles, workshops and showcases from those before me in my community like MouseVader Areizaga Joleen Morales , Miguel Lito Aguinaga , Demario Henry , Brendan Eldom Justin Noh , and the list goes on..... Im proud to be apart of the next generation whos now taking what Ive learned and experienced from them. Dance is my school. This weekend is a demonstration of what Ive learned. This is my Thesis.
