So .... Back in 2000 I was working at my first job in film. It was an internet start-up called Eveo which streamed short 3 minute videos that people would send us. My job was to review them, give em a thumbnail, encode them and divide them up into channels, which was how the website was organized. Sound familiar? The only competition at the time was ifilm. We had this huge launch party in San Francisco that was off the chain. Tucker Max wrote about in his book I Hope they serve Beer in Hell. Ironic in that a mere 9 months later amidst the dot-com demise of 2000 more than half of the employees, including me were laid off. The business model had to change they said ... This whole user generated video idea was not gonna pan out. Funny huh? Again, the irony. Just my luck. I think I took all my money and invested in Enron at that point.
