So, Christmas Day 2014 - nearly gone thank God. Went on my now traditional Christmas stroll along the canal toward town. Its strange how many Christmas Days are sunny, cold and of course, short. Cant help but notice the enormous number of boarded up flats in Fatima Mansions - easily enough to house all of the 168 homeless people in Dublin (all in a single flat complex that the taxpayer paid to build and is not being used [yes, like the half billion on the water meters that arent going to be used! Theres a trend here...now, how about some joined up thinking in 2015?).... the canal gets nicer the further you get from Kilmainham - thats why the 100 Swans congregate at Portobello I suppose. Most of the Muslim shops and restaurants were open as usual and I was tempted to drop in for a coffee and some Mediterranean sweets. I dropped into work to do a couple of paperwork things and confirm my days off next week: they made me take a couple of days off. Walked home again - no doubt about it, people do a LOT of driving on Christmas Day, some of the roads were very busy. Next the Christmas phonecalls to sister and brother - and thats about it, the Christmas routine done and dusted until next year. I ALWAYS swear that NEXT Christmas Im going on a holiday somewhere... then I never do it.
