So... DC VegFest is over. Woke up this morning with a very mixed bag of feelings... sadness that its over and I have to wait another year for that much vegan awesomeness in one place, awe at the droves of people who were in attendance but more importantly, renewed vigor and determination to get my vegan/raw vegan food truck rolling... Black Dog ♥ (Black Dog is named after our beloved Chops Shreve... my homage to him; its also a play on the black dogs and cats are bad luck poppycock). I have everything laid out, already... have for a few years now... menu, recipes, graphics, catch phrases... the whole nine yards. Ive just lacked motivation. Its difficult to navigate an omni world as a vegan sometimes but yesterday refueled and recharged my soul. To see so many people gathering in the name of love, compassion, respect and pretty much complete awesomeness was overwhelming (and yes, I did cry into my vegan beer a few times). Met great people, got to scritch a lot of fuzzy butts, ate fabulous food. Everything that I have planned for Black Dog was there, with long lines of people waiting to partake of its goodness... kombucha, raw food, raw juices, creative cooked vegan cuisine. I wanted to just live there... it felt like coming home. Everything we sampled was pleasing but I was most impressed with Sunrawise vegan artisan cheeses. They were easily the best vegan cheeses that Ive ever tasted. They had a spirulina blue vein cheese that was to die for. Im inspired to dust off my Artisan Vegan Cheese cookbook and dive in, again. I cant thank Compassion Over Killing enough, for holding this event! In conclusion, all I have to say is Veganism is spreading like wildfire and its time has come. Vive le Veganism ♥
