So DCI Redwood is calling it a day. If reports today are correct - TopicsExpress

So DCI Redwood is calling it a day. If reports today are correct he will be retiring in a months time. Which begs the question, just how close are Scotland Yard to any type of breakthrough? The simple and most obvious answer would be, no bloody closer to the day they started. Lets not kid ourselves here, if you were on the cusp of, or had any inkling you were about to crack the most publicised missing persons case since Lord Lucan upped and left, would you announce your retirement and allow someone else the chance to steal your thunder? Not even if it became chilly at Satans gaff! What has Redwood gained from Operation Grange? Apart from nights away with his equally inept team in five star accommodation and a suntan to boot, the vacant looking detective has gained nothing. A seemingly desperate game of pin the tail on the patsy has managed to throw up no results, and just look at the cost, an overall figure of close to £12 million and rising. One has to ask what type of a man gives up on a missing little girl before the investigation has exhausted every possibility? I think the answer to that is easy, a weak yes man, who knew what his brief was from day one. Investigate everything, suspect everyone, *this must not include anything that may incriminate the McCanns. The net is closing? We can all dream. What we are heading for is the announcement that Madeleine McCann, aged 3 disappeared from her holiday apartment, taken by assailant unknown. I have no doubt the PJ will follow suit, and international relations will be all the sweeter for it. Of course the side effect of that is that the malevolent McCanns will continue to rake in the cash, will never have to explain their lies, will tell the world they tried their best, and worst of all Madeleine McCann will continue to be what she became from the day she was reported missing, a marketable brand.
